The Sufi Trust

The Sufi Trust was originally founded in 1970 by the writer and thinker Idries Shah to support the understanding and transmission of Sufi ideas in the modern world. Rooted in a centuries-old tradition of inner development, the Trust focused on publishing, translation, and outreach, quietly bringing authentic Sufi knowledge to a wider audience - without fanfare, and free from dogma or exoticism.

Now re-established, the Trust continues its work for a new generation – championing wisdom, cross-cultural understanding, and personal growth. Through books, digital resources, and collaborative projects, it offers tools for reflection and transformation in a spirit of accessibility and relevance.

Our Mission

At The Sufi Trust we recognise that certain ancient knowledge is needed now more than ever to prepare us for the future. By placing the right resources in the hands of those who will make a difference, we believe that dividends will be paid out within society in the decades ahead.

Breathing new life into The Sufi Trust is a challenge, and is one we are embracing with our supporters and friends.

At this critical time, we are asking for your help.

We need to raise The Sufi Trust’s initial fund of £75,000, ($100,000).

While all gifts are enormously welcome and gratefully received, we are hoping to raise the following seed contributions:

  • 10 donations of £3700 ($5000)

  • 10 donations of £2500 ($3300)

  • 13 donations of £1000 ($1350)

If you are in a position to donate to The Sufi Trust, please contact us directly at info@thesufitrust.org

Thank you.
